Mr. Brook began training in the martial arts in 1987 under Billy Golden in Shotokan Karate-do. In 1990, he earned his purple belt. He stopped training for 3 years, returning in 1993 and earning his brown belt in 1994. He began boxing in 1987 and trained for 3
years. Mr. Brook began training at Tracy's Kenpo Karate in November of 1994. He currently holds the rank of Shodan, 1st degree black belt. He is the first of 3 black belts to be promoted at Tracy's Kenpo Karate in Shreveport. He received his black belt on November 22, 1997. In 1997, Mr. Brook began full contact kickboxing under Charlton Young. He has competed in two kickboxing events. Also in 1997, Mr. Brook transferred to the Street Level Interdiction Unit with the Shreveport Police Department. This unit, known as the Jump Out Boyz, is responsible for SWAT operations, narcotics investigation, street operation and combat street level narcotic operations. Jason served as a team leader for this unit until he was transferred out of SLIU into the Vice Unit. He served there until 2003. As of January, 2003, Mr. Brook has been promoted to Corporal and appointed to the Police Academy to serve as the Self Defense Tactics Instructor. He will be responsible for teaching and certifying police officers and sheriff's deputies during their training at the academy. Mr. Brook has recently renewed his kenpo training, bringing with him a good sense of what real world combat is all about. |
